Raining on Lewes’ English drought

Just in case any of you were worrying that my home town of Lewes was about to turn into the Arizona Desert after all that talk about the great English drought, here is a more typically English look when yesterday the rain came down like a Hollywood movie effect. Just as well I was stuck indoors waiting for the internet engineer to arrive. The garden could take it though – nothing was damaged and there was a chorus of thanksgiving from all those dry little plants.

Being an English April though, it didn’t last long and soon there were some alternating moments of bright sunshine followed by more heavy rain showers. It doesn’t mean the drought is over though – it would have to rain constantly for six months to end the water supply crisis according to the privatised water authorities.

After the showers, the day ended sublimely…….

….and then it rained and rained and rained.
